The Annual July Northwest Trip in my 2011 Redtrack Camper Trailer. July 2011.

Left Perth 25th July for Ningaloo Station just South of Exmouth. Weather was fantastic and it was great to catch up with Ray, Petulla and friends in their campers. I was lazy as I didn’t put up my awning because I was only there for 3 nights. The tranquil ocean views and crystal clear waters were uplifting for the soul!

The Station owner Phil Lefroy pointed out to me that he has won the fight to keep his property Lease in tack for years to come. What great news, knowing that we can still camp in this magnificent area of our country. After catching a couple of good size snapper off the beach, storing them in the freezer in the back of my car, I headed off to the Karratha show the following day.

The Show was a huge success with everybody being so friendly as usual and the new Oval Location a winner for the exhibitors.

With business now out of the way and one of my best friends flying into Karratha to pick up supplies, we headed off to Mundabullangana Station. A privilege given to us by David, Michael, Thelma and Sue Thompson (the station owners). We stayed the night at the Homestead, only to be greeted with a cold beer and food late in the day!

My good mate Nabil was only too happy to go around taking photos of this delightful heritage listed property.

With permission we headed off down to the local creek which is still as pristine as the day it was first discovered. On the way we picked up firewood. Boy! It was a real treat to just find mud crabs so easily and cook them up every night. The speed and height at which the tide comes in each day, changing the landscape, is entertainment for the day. After only three nights on the station we said goodbye to Thelma at the Homestead on the way out

.After getting fuel at Port Hedland we headed off down the Great Northern Hwy to the breathtaking HamersleyRanges stopping overnight on the way.

Yes! This was the highlight of my trip. My New Redtrack Off-road Camper Trailer surrounded by the towering gorge walls all around us as we ventured into Wittenoom Gorge. A photographic paradise and a challenge to my off road skills keeping the track away from closing in onto the sides of my Camper.

I found the rock pool I was looking for to park the camper on. Here I was... “Living the Dream”, feeling like a spec in an ancient land with no one else around other than my trusted friend Nabil to share stories with from the past.

The open fire each night completed what was the perfect picture of how a campsite should be. It was also a time to reflect on the history of the area for when it was inhabited by so many people looking for a better life.

I now have great photos to bring home the memories whenever I want to share them with those that have the same affection for camping and the same means as to get there... in a New Redtrack Camper Trailer.
